GBV
Seifert Belmont Reds have participated in Professor Ben Hayes' MLA Northern Beef Genomics project since 2017 — DNA-testing ~30,000 head of multiple breeds across 54 commercial herds. Our heifer puberty ranked top 5% in round one. With no multi-breed BREEDPLAN EBVs available, GBVs are the only tool for cross-breed comparison in Northern Australia. We publish GBVs for three traits:
- Age of Puberty — how early heifers cycle
- P4M — re-breed while lactating (pregnant within 4 months of calving)
- Weight — at 18 months (equivalent to 600-day EBV)
GBVs rank 1–100 (90 = top 10%). Our sale bulls rank in the top 10–50% across all breeds.

Estimated Breeding Values are a within-breed comparison — Belmont Red to Belmont Red. Our Seifert Belmont Red herd is fully BREEDPLAN recorded for every trait available to the breed. Every animal we breed is recorded — not just the best — and run in large contemporary groups, delivering the most accurate EBVs possible and true, heritable, consistent genetics you can count on.
